This training is designed so that you can become aware of and meet the very psychological tendencies that make you, well… you.

After years and years and thousands of hours of meditative practice and study into the a variety of contemplative traditions and modern neuro sciences, years of leading meditation teacher trainings and years of shepherding clients towards inner peace through one on one work, the absolute creme of the crop in terms of practices that actually, sustainably change your life, have risen up. 

It is that thick oozy double cream that I am sharing with you here. 

In creating this course I asked myself the following questions - 

  • What are the practices that aren’t just fluff or noise, aren’t just filling the mind with unnecessary information, aren’t just moving energy around keeping people on the never ending hamster wheel of growth. 

    No, there’s enough of that out there. 

  • What are the practices that directly address the challenges that you and I face each and every day? What are the practices that change your nervous system, your unconscious reactions, the way your brain is currently wired and the neural coherence between your brain and your heart? 

  • What are the therapeutic and psychological contemplative disciplines that bring people more fully alive? 

  • And how will they TRULY help you (and me) as a husband, father, wife, mum, friend, employer, employee, son or daughter be the most stable and alive that I can be?

  • What are the mental disciplines that even those grounded in spiritual understanding or daily worship could benefit from to enhance their very real human experience and also enhance their spiritual connection?  

So in 2024, for the first time in many years I am shelving our flagship teacher training to run this training, not (necessarily) to create teachers but to change lives. 

And I hope, if you are drawn to this course, you will be able to join us.

One question that I get asked about this training is if it is a spiritual or religious training. 

The answer is no, it isn’t. My family (my wife, my son and I) aren’t religious but we have a spiritual daily practice of reading the bible, meditating, prayer journaling and more. We love and worship God and we hope, sincerely, that this work can glorify Him. It was, in fact, our morning contemplations and conversations with God that led us to shelf the teacher training and run this course. 

But in saying all of that, the contents of this training are about fine tuning your mind, body and heart-centred emotions so that whatever you believe comes more alive for you and you can create a deeper sense of peace and wholehearted living regardless of your spiritual or religious orientation.

Here’s some more specific info about the training - 

COURSE CURRICULUM 

This course is made up of practical tools that only require what you already have within you.
You don’t need any bells or whistles - nothing! Just your body, mind, heart, an internet connection and a comfortable place to sit!
Once you know how to use the tools that you already have they will be with you forever. 
You will see below that each session is geared towards practical healing. And practical healing is what we call inner gardening, which requires 3 things; uprooting the old, planting the new and enjoying the garden. 
In the different sessions throughout the course you will see that some are focused more on uprooting weeds (thought processes that are no longer relevant to you) and some are focused more of planting seeds (recognising what you want to grow) and some session are focused on enjoying the garden (learning how to just BE and enjoying the fruits of your labour and thanks giving for what you do already have). 

LESSON 1 - WELCOME OVERVIEW AND PREPARATION
Laying down the foundations with a philosophical overview and the meditation methodology
How to use the mind, emotions and breath to best prepare for meditation

LESSON 2 - DEFENSELESSNESS
Disarming the reactive tendencies of the ego that create inner and outer conflict

LESSON 3 - BASIC GOODNESS 
Negating the striving and over-efforting habits of the mind
Returning home to knowledge of innate worth and innocence. 

LESSON 4 - SENSITIVITY
How we can use our senses in meditation and contemplation to balance and manage the movements of the mind, cultivate presence and practice safely (with PTSD for eg)

The power of a focused mind
How to harness awareness
The benefits of conscious mind wandering

LESSON 6 - CONCENTRATION. 2
Meeting the obstacles to concentration
Meditation’s most powerful heart tool - equanimity.

LESSON 7 - ACCEPTANCE
Using acceptance as the medicine to soothe and undo the predictable afflictions of your mind, which are 3 fold:
1. craving and clinging
2. resistance and aversion 
3. rigid attachment.
And understanding how these afflictions arise though unmet psychological needs

LESSON 8 - RESILIENCE
Growing the fundamental psychological needs of your mind and nervous system to build and cement holistic happiness and robustness

LESSON 9 -  HEARTFULNESS 1
Cultivating a safe and open heart
How to stack positive emotions in the heart

LESSON 10 - HEARTFULNESS 2.0
Returning to and growing inherent innocence
How to defrost and dearmour the heart which leads to wholehearted living

WHY WE NEED THIS COURSE 

You as a youngster probably weren’t taught that art of holistic wellbeing and how to thrive as a human being.

You might have learnt how to write a good essay, how to apply trigonometry, how to write, prepare and cost a menu (if you were a chef like me) or how to dissect a rat in high school science.

All these kinds of things prepare us for the workforce. But they don’t prepare us for life. 

If we want this type of knowledge we have to hunt it out ourselves. 

We typically don’t learn anything about -

  • How to balance our nervous system, or even what our nervous system is! Which, when we understand that we interpret our whole world through our nervous system, it’s kind of a big deal! 

  • How to breathe and how paramount breathing is for our health 

  • Why our mind does what it does and thinks how it thinks 

  • How to master your distractions  

  • How to develop emotional intelligence and let go of past experiences 

  • Living with meaning and purpose 

  • How to let go and adapt 

There comes a time where we take a small portion of all the information we gathered in school or university that’s relevant to us, and apply it in our chosen field. And we’re left with questions that bubble up from a lack of deeper fulfilment in life. We might be working, making money, going through the motions, but our heart isn’t on fire for life. 

At this point, if we don’t know what to do we either become restless and destructive or apathetic and lethargic. 

Either way, it is no way to truly live and we teach this course with such passion because we wish this information - as simple as it is - was taught to all of us, with paramount importance, from a young age. We want your heart to be on fire and for you to truly LIVE.

PREREQUISITES 

There is a list of learn to meditate short courses that will be released on our website soon. 

You will get access to all of the courses for free by signing up for this training. You don’t have to complete them all (although we recommend it), but the necessary prerequisites are the following 3 courses-

2. What is Awareness 

3. Emotional E.A.S.E

* There are exceptions for having to fulfil these prerequisites. 

  1. If you can tell us where and how you have learnt the art and science of breathwork (either with us or someone else) there may be an exemption. 

  2. If you have studied the nature of awareness either with us or a reputable teacher you may be exempt

  3. If you have studied the EASE method with us or one of our trained teachers you may be exempt

  4. If you have already done our 6 week meditation course


FACILITATORS TRAINING

This 3 month course, Heart’s On Fire, also serves as a prerequisite for our facilitators training. The facilitators training is for professionals (teachers, mentors, coaches, counsellors etc) who want to expand upon what they learn in this training and be able to share it in both one on one and group settings. This training is 6 months long, and both expands upon the foundations learnt in Heart’s On Fire and focuses on the teaching and leadership skills to share it all with the world clearly and powerfully. You can find out more about this training towards the end of these initial 3 months.
